Whittier Street Health Center Annual Report

The Setup

Whittier Street Health Center in Boston provides primary care and support services to 30,000 people per year. Led by President & CEO Frederica M. Williams, Whittier serves a racially and ethnically diverse population of patients, 91 percent of which live below the poverty level. Whittier’s annual budget is close to $30 million.

Whittier engaged Vibrancy Communications to bring fresh eyes and storytelling expertise to its annual report, one of the center’s most important fundraising tools.

The Action

Vibrancy worked closely with Ms. Williams and Chiarella Design to reimagine this storytelling vehicle. Our extensive discovery process involved 13 stakeholder interviews and a review of 60 background documents.

Goals:

  • Capture the dignity of patients and the close bonds they share with Whittier’s health care providers
  • Demonstrate ROI to corporate donors by highlighting innovation and results
  • Mix and match content types (stories, infographics, timeline) for easy reader comprehension

We also wrote Ms. Williams’ keynote address for Whittier’s annual gala.

Testimonial Speech Bubble

“I highly recommend Vibrancy for business and nonprofit leaders seeking communications expertise. Sarah is a fresh, empathetic storyteller with deep business knowledge and professionalism. Our annual report was compelling and effective. Several VIP donors even told us that they read it cover to cover, and were impressed with the quality of the report.”
